As many of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This time every year, we’re bombarded with pink ribbons and endless fundraising campaigns, and it can be easy to become desensitized. But breast cancer is still the second leading cause of death among women in the United States, and according to the World Health Organization the most common cancer among women worldwide.
The good news is that all of the fundraising and research is working. Death rates from breast cancer have been declining since about 1990, in part to better due to screening and early detection, increased awareness, and continually improving treatment options. Millions of women have survived breast cancer, but in 2015 an estimated 40,000 women will die from the disease.
There are many, many ways you can raise awareness and donate to breast cancer research. I’ve partnered with AHAVA to help in a small way, but also a fun one. For the month of October, 20% of proceeds from AHAVA’s Cactus & Pink Pepper Hand Cream will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I’ve been using this hand cream for a week now and I love it. It smells delicious and makes hands baby soft. But if you know me I’m a sucker for anything pink or from the Dead Sea, so this is an obvious choice. Buy the hand cream through the link below (and stock up for Christmas gifts) to help fund breast cancer research and continue to see a rise in survivors.
