It’s the first Monday of a new year and you’re making resolutions to eat healthily, workout more, get more done, and generally be a better person. What can help you? Coffee.

According to a study from the University of Pennsylvania, only 77% of resolution makers are still on track after the first week of the new year, dropping to only 40% after six months. You know what sticks around all year? Coffee.

It’s your best friend. The thing that wakes you up in the morning and helps you through the day. What else can cure headaches and ease stress with the first fragrant sip? Wine? Ok, fine. Wine. But coffee is more socially acceptable at all hours of the day.

We can stop debating the health benefits. They’re overwhelmingly positive. See? Coffee is helping you live a healthier life already.

And we haven’t even gotten to the taste. Bright, fruity blends or nutty, sweeter brews poured steaming and black into a mug, inhaling the familiar aroma deeply then sipping with eyes closed while standing in the kitchen first thing in the morning. The perfect rich espresso stained with cream, or stirred with half a packet of sugar at a bar in Italy. Iced and sweet in Vietnam, or silty and strong in Turkey. With cardamom seeds in Jordan, or instant and weak on a camping trip. Always fueling an adventure or a project, always tasting perfect in that particular moment.

Let’s all resolve this year to drink more coffee. Good coffee. Fresh coffee. Coffee made by someone who cares, grown somewhere by people who care, and are cared for. Happy Monday!
