My Beach Essentials

beach packing essentials

The end of January in Chicago has me aching for somewhere tropical. I’ve been doing some trip planning today and will be heading somewhere warm soon. Hooray! In the meantime I’m researching gorgeous beach houses here on HomeAway. Some of these homes are seriously stunning! I don’t know how I’m going to pick. The easy part will be packing. As you probably know by now, it’s one of my favorite activities. I have a few go-to items for every type of destination, including (especially) the beach. Here are my beach essentials:

Beach Bag: I use this one and this one, and would have more if I didn’t want to save some of my money for flights. 🙂

Cover Up: Whether it’s a comfy dress, a caftan, a convertible sarong, or a linen scarf to tie around my waist, I pack feminine cover ups for shielding my skin from the sun or running to buy ice cream (or margaritas).

Portable Speakers: You never know when bluetooth speakers will come in handy!

Sunglasses: I have very light blue, very sensitive eyes, and I’m paranoid of wrinkles. I also have a tiny face and these are the only sunglasses that don’t make me look like a bug.

Sunscreen: Never leave home without it! This one is my favorite. And after sun moisturizer, for keeping my tan and hydrating my skin and hair.

A good book: My reading list is never ending. It’s up to 300 books and counting. I try to get through one a week but I don’t know if I’ll ever catch up! What are some of your favorite beach reads?

Waterbottle: The sun is dehydrating, the sea is dehydrating, the cocktails are dehydrating. Bring water. I’ve blogged about bkr water bottles before and they’re still my favorite.

What are your beach essentials? I’d love to know! Tell me in the comments or show me on Instagram using #InMyCarryOn
